ASSESSMENT WORKSHOPS
Performance Tasks: One Step Further: Various types of performance tasks are examined. Teachers
practice designing tasks that meet the cognitive level of the Georgia Performance Standards and develop culminating performance
tasks that address the larger enduring understandings. (6 or 12 hours, can also be combined with Rubric Writing)
Rubric Writing: How do you truly measure whether or not a student understands? This workshop looks
at a variety of rubrics and their pros and cons. Teachers develop true rubrics for understanding. (3 or 6 hours)
Test Development: State testing is described in detail and teachers get practice writing questions that
align to the intent and style of state assessments. (3 hours).
OTHER WORKSHOPS
Conceptual Teaching: This workshop explores the primary pedagogy that drives the Georgia
Performance Standards in Social Studies. Topics explored include background research, use of themes, enduring understandings,
and practical examples. (6 or 12 hours)
Crazy Economics: From play-doh to popsicle sticks, get your students involved with creative
takes on econ lessons in this wild workshop. (3 hours).
Teaching the Judicial Process Through a Mock Trial: Teachers participate in a condensed
version of a mock criminal justice process and look at the alignment to the American Government standards. Another
purpose of the workshop is to look at how a culminating performance task can be used to guide instruction. (3 or
6 hours).
What does a differentiated lesson look like?: Teachers participate in two sample lessons
that offer various types of differentiation. Time permitting, teachers work on implementing the modeled tactics into
their own lessons. (6 hours)
