In my travels around the state the over the past couple of years, I have heard many teachers and Social Studies Specialists asking for material related to the GPS that they felt would aid their teaching and help their students.  By a substantial margin, the top request was for a thorough test bank that was in the style of the questions that would be on the EOCT, CRCT, and GHSGT and that was truly aligned to the state standards.  The goal of this site is to provide that resource to teachers at an affordable price.

In addition to the test bank, our services have evolved to also include other assessment help including developing workshops in test development, item writing, and performance tasks with appropriate rubrics.  As a classroom teacher I practice the methods and techniques described in the workshops with great success.  I want to help other teachers any way I can in the field of assessment.

WHY IS THIS TEST BANK DIFFERENT?

            Unlike other test banks that claim to be "aligned" to the GPS, the questions developed in the documents found here were developed by and under the watch of someone who trained teachers on how to use the GPS, assisted with the development of the GADOE frameworks, and - perhaps most importantly - worked with the development of the state tests.  The questions found here are better aligned with the style (stem length, terminology used, appropriateness of distracters, etc) and the intent of the GPS and the state tests than other test banks.  Often, test banks are created for a national audience and then bundled with "Georgia" materials when textbooks are purchased.  Questions in this test bank were directly designed to measure understanding of each element as opposed to the practice of writing questions to general topics and then attempting to match them to a standard.  The questions on this site were developed specifically FOR Georgia teachers BY Georgia teachers.

            In addition, this bank is updated monthly with new questions.  This allows for a greater degree of flexibility in meeting standards and elements than a typical test bank.  In some areas (particularly the CRCT), there have been major changes in the style and direction of the questions.  As the GPS evolves, this bank will constantly change to meet the standards.

 WHY NOT USE THE GADOE RELEASED QUESTIONS?

            Many teachers assume that their test banks are sufficient because they use “released questions,” i.e. previously used questions from former state tests.  In many cases, using released questions to prepare students for what is to come is a good idea.  However, there are very few released questions from GPS-based tests in Social Studies.  For some courses, no questions from past GPS tests have been released.  This site better prepares students for future tests because of its forward-looking approach to question writing.
