OBJECTIVES: 

1)  To teach Social Studies in a way that promotes critical thinking, facilitates long-term understanding, and prepares students for real world applications in addition to standardized tests.            

2)  To challenge all students to employ creative problem solving skills and always strive to exceed expectations.

3)  To provide opportunities for students who demand a more rigorous curriculum to delve deeper into content, and demonstrate their knowledge with multiple assessments.

2006-2008       Teacher on Special Assignment to the Georgia Department of Education

·         Conducted staff development workshops on GPS training at the school, system, and multi-system level.  Trained trainers in systems as part of state-level training.

·         Created and edited state-level examples of materials that to use with GPS rollout.

·         Wrote and taught in DOE training video Conceptual Teaching: Social Studies Unit 1.  Wrote and co-directed other state department videos.

·         Oversaw development of the Department of Education Social Studies 6-12 Frameworks.

·         Conducted content and strategy workshops related to teaching the high school economics course.

·         Assisted with development of the Georgia Economics End of Course Tests by participating in creation of the blueprint, item review, data review, and standards setting.

·         Worked with development of the dually aligned Georgia High School Graduation Test.
